Why Native Histories?

On this website you will find free, inquiry-based lessons aimed at helping secondary-school teachers introduce Native American History to their American History classes.

The material is searchable by topic, location and time and divided into units. Each unit contains:

  1. unit plan with overarching learning goals and a summary of lessons
  2. 4-5 lesson plans with essential questions, lesson goals, assessments, and classroom activities
  3. presentations, teacher guides, and handouts that relate to each lesson.
